In case anybody is interested, it looks like Ventura Raceway is going to have Motorcycle races this Saturday (May 12).

They have all kinds of classes.  MX, Flat Track, Quads, Speedway, Vintage, Pit Bikes.

I think I'm going to go (to watch, not to race).   Looks like races start at 5:30pm.  Anybody else interested?

If they have a Begginer class  ;D. If not I'll just have to show'em how lapped traffic can really screw up someones race. Throw down a couple blocks on the leaders and you neveer know the out come ( I may end up getting my ass kicked  8)).

Welcome to my world  ::)
If it was up to Teri the day would last a week.

Was just looking at prices  :o. They are chargeing for everything. 60 bucks to race, 14 to get in another 25 if Teri wants to go into the pits.... This could really hurt my chances of racing....

I'm pretty sure the $14 gate fee is included in the pit pass, and the pit pass is included in race fee.

So I THINK it would cost:
$60 for your race entry (which includes the pit pass)
$25 for Teri's pit pass

$85 total for 2 of you.

Ok as of 7:30 this morning (Saturday) I'm in. I will be headed out to try to make the practice, then the race.
Richie if your going I will be listening for the roar of your voice when I go by. Maybe I'll do a one hander and point at you  ;) ( I've seen'em do it on TV  8)).
I have a feeling, with this being a open class, I'm going to get my butt handed to me.....

Well I went and did the race, and got my ass handed to me.
It being a open class made it a little crazy. There were some real fast guys out there.
Moto track is very small with 1 good size double (that I bitched out on every time  :-[). I saw a couple guys in practice eat shit pretty good and I decided not tonight.
There was a few other D-37 peeps there so I hooked up with them. A few Dirt Diggers and a Hilltopper named Mike (vet Int.)
We raced the same class, so it was on. Who cares about the other guys, I have to beat Mike.
This is kinda how the track was laid out: Start (No gate/ GP style, watch the flag). We were on a speedway track with a small mx track in the middle.
1st big sweeping left turn into very sharp left turn (onto the mx part) you instantly made a sweep to the right where you had to get into 3rd for the double. Then a bunch of small sharp turns and little jumps and more real sharp turns, then back out to the oval. I got into 3rd and felt like I was sliding across the track in the turns (this was very fun).
1st heat I got 1st gate pick and got the hole shot, to the first sharp turn. Then I got smoked. everyone just slammed into each other (the guy in front may of held them up  ;D) and took off. I stayed in front of Mike, but he made me work my butt off to beat him ( he now for sure knows what blocking is and the meaning ride wide  ;)).
2nd moto was about the same. Mike got low in the sweeper on me but as soon as we straightened out the 450 pulled in front and cut down to the inside and I beat him again. We had a lot of fun.
Just watching some of those guys go around that track was great. They run everything there, Choppers, 450's, Honda step through frame 125 (bored to 150  :o).
This was a very fun night.
Oh ya and it being right on the beach made it cold when you weren't racing.
Sorry we never made it up to see you Richie. We really weren't prepared to race this. No place to leave the bike. We'll have the trailer next time and jackets and maybe even a set of clear goggles. The dark tent did nothing for me  ::).

That kid on the 150 (#50) looked so smooth.  Out of all the bikes racing that night, he was consistently the best-looking over the double.  I think he ran in 3 classes.

It's pretty cool how they run so many different kinds of classes - flat track, quads, quad flat track, pit bikes, etc.  The only thing that sucked was that the competition was poor.  There were very few lead changes in any of the races.

This was a very fun night.

You gonna try again on June 9th?

I think so. I was thinking about Ruts, but I got bumped so I'm ready for more motocross... Gotta get ready for summer series. Maybe go for some flat track too.
What about you.
