Unofficially, it looks like we had 497 entries. With nearly 300 on Saturday alone, I really thought we'd be well over 500.

497 sounds good, but Big E sounded a little disappointed the other day too, thinking we should have had a lot more. What's the normal turnout for a National? and if this is low what do we think caused it?

I am only slightly disappointed, we seem to get more racers than the average desert race most years. The DMC National had, I think about 550. I thought we might get close to 600. I have no idea what may have caused our lower number of entries.

I think 138, and 24 of those never made it to the race.

I'd say we didn't get 530+ because of the "red mountain" factor.
Not because of anything we did or didn't do.

maybe it was the "jackrabbits effect" - meaning: a lot of people said they're not going to go to the jackrabbits next year because it was sooo hard this year (I personally liked it) and from what i hear poeple thought your race was really hard last year (which I was looking foward too and was very pleased) so maybe they just didnt come this year in fear of having to race a national caliber course...

This thread is a year old. I haven't counted our entries for 2007 yet.

I dunno. If we got 500+ riders, I would say well done and start thinking about next next. My $.02.
