This is a little story about an event that happened to me this weekend. I went out riding with a friend of mine on Sunday afternoon. It was a place not far from the city but away from it all none the less. All was going well as I let Renee, my riding friend around the loose sandy trails. I'd been to this particular place a couple times with Steve and sort of knew where I was. Well, it started to get late and the sun started to head south in the sky signaling time to head back to the truck. On a washed out uphill she somehow popped the chain off the rear sprocket and wrapped it around the front one, really wedging it in there. I worked on it for about 20 minutes trying to get it loose to no avail. Had a toe strap and towed her down the trail towards one enterance (the place has 2 and we were parked at the other one). So I got her down to the access road and tried to pull her up to the main road because they have been doing alot of work around there and I wasn't sure if the enterance was still open. After she crashed about 6 times I had enough. I rode down and checked to see if the enterance was open it was so off I went down a trail that I knew would take me to my truck. The sun was down now so I was following the light colored dirt. It was getting darker alot faster than I thought it would. There was a little light reflecting from the lights of the city so I could see the lighter color of the trail. The problems I had were with a couple uphills that were washed out and add that to the fact that I couldn't see and it made it tough. I knew I had to keep going because I'm just that hard headed. Anyways, a ride that has taken me about 20 minutes took probably about 1.5 hours. There was a downhill just before my truck that I had been riding up and down a couple days before so I knew what was on it and that's the only reason I made it down without busting myself all up. Got down, loaded up and got over to pick up my partner who was quite shaken up by the whole sitting in the dark thing. It seemed like a much more stressful event at the time but as lame as this story was, you just read it. What can we learn from this? If you're out riding, the strong will survive. Hope everybody properly maintains their bikes:) I did have a light with me and plenty of water so I wasn't going to die but it reminded me of something that most of us usually take for granted. Even on play rides, be as prepared as you can and be safe out there!

The insurance I've got is through Assurant Health. (I'm pretty sure if you search for it you can find them on the net) I like them because the policy I'm under covers ambulance rides, helicopter rides and it is nationwide. Alot of insurance companies only cover you in the state you buy the policy in. Since I live in Arizona at present but race in Cali that's kind of a big deal. I don't know if that helps you out at all but that's what I do. O yea, I pay just over a $100 a month. All medical is a little salty in the price department but for what I get this seems like a good find. I have insurance people call me all the time and try to sell me a policy and this is the company and close to the policy so it seems stable. They also have a 2 (or 3 I forget) price lock. So what you get quoted at now, is what you're going to pay for the next couple years. That's a nice little bonus. That way they don't quote you one thing, sucker you in and then jack up the price on you. Hope that helps

I just thought I'd pass a little info on to you all that I've been messing with. Everybody always says to run your race sag at 100mm. Well, that's if you want to compromise between handling and straight line stability. But, some bikes (like mine and others) are stable at high speed (top of first) naturally. So you can crank down on the spring and run a little less race sag. Instead of running 100mm try running around 90mm. That's going to help turning a little. if your bike turns like a champ but isn't the safest thing across the valley try to loosen that spring up and run about 110mm race sag. That'll help stability and in the desert most of the time you don't need to whip it around on a dime. Just a couple thoughts to help us all look better, or crash harder! Just make sure that if you do go messing with the sag to test it really good before racing it. You might have to adjust your rebound so your bike isn't out there trying to punt you off. Just a little idea I thought somebody out there might find usefull.

I'm just happy that I finally fall into some sort of classification. See, for a long time I was a "band geek" or a "loser". That was high school and after that I turned into "that guy that lives under the overpass and asks old woman what they've got cookin." I know this might be a little to much info but Im just so excited that now I'm known as something that won't make old woman break their hips while running away. Awsome!

And I'm not talking about the fact that I didn't wear any deodorant today. (Lets not even bring up the fact that I haven't showered since that day when it rained on me) Anyways, so there I was, trying to figure out how to get the stuff for the members side of the board and I don't know how to. I don't know what to do. It's like going on a date with a transvestite and going to dance. I'm that lost. You know, who's leading and who's "man breasts" are now boobs. Yea, I'm no good with computers. If anybody out there could help me that would be great. Now that Steve is on here I feel left out and I want to be part of the cool people group.Richie, help me!!! And I'm not talking about the deodorant thing, what do I need to do. Well, I'm off to find a tansvestite. Plesant dancing.
